So a couple of my friends sent me the “Gay Sheep” article from NYT, which was a pretty interesting article in itself, but what I found funny was that both people didn’t send a comment along with it. Because it was just soooo implicit, “you’re my gay friend, I’ve gotta send you the crazy gay sheep article cause you’ll totally get it.”
And don’t get me wrong, I’m completely fine with it, I just thought there was something deep-down funny about the situation. I’ve always thought the whole phenomenon of sending links to articles to your friends is ripe for humor, if nothing else. It makes you classify your friends and pass judgements on them sort of unconsciously, and certain people if they’re touchy could get offended:
Angry Friend: Why you sending me Arts and Recreation all the time when you send Chuck those serious International Relations articles? Do you really think I’m that stupid?
Article-Sending Friend: How do you know what articles I send Chuck?
Angry Friend: That’s not the question is it.
you’re twisting the facts, kirsch. but I like that photo of the top of your head.
oh i didn’t see your message before! Got it. But there were others…
